San Antonio, produced by Opera Films, wins the Documental Panamá competition at IFF Panamá

The documentary directed by Xochil Vergara and produced by Omar Calvo was one of the three winning projects of the seventh edition of the Documental Panamá competition, selected from 34 proposals under the theme "Neighborhoods as the living essence of the country." The award ceremony took place during the 14th edition of the Panama International Film Festival. The project now begins development, with theatrical exhibition and international reach planned alongside TVN Media and the Alberto Motta Foundation.

Cautiverio celebrates its world premiere at Fantaspoa 2026

Opera Films' first fiction feature, directed by Omar Calvo and Sebastián Jiménez Franco, celebrated its world premiere at the 22nd edition of the Porto Alegre Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil, one of Latin America's leading genre film festivals. The film continues its festival run ahead of its theatrical release in Panama and Spain.

With Panama as guest country of the 29th Málaga Film Festival, Cautiverio — produced by Opera Films in co-production with Colombia's HD Cinema and Panama's Movecam — was selected for MAFIZ Specials, the festival's industry showcase for special projects. The film screened for international buyers, platform representatives and festival programmers, seeking distributors and sales agents for its international run.

Salmones Rosas awarded at the 28th Ícaro International Festival in Guatemala

Salmones Rosas, directed by Óscar Faarup and produced by Opera Films alongside Faarup Entertainment and SerTV, won Best Cinematography and was nominated for Best Central American Fiction Feature at the region's oldest and most prestigious festival. The recognition was part of a historic haul for Panamanian cinema, which took home seven awards in the Central America section, adding to the Best Film award the picture received at its world premiere at the Central American Film Festival Vienna.
